St. Edward’s Preschool
Welcome to Miss Tanya's class
Hello!! My name is Ms. Tanya. I am St. Edward’s Preschool Teacher.
This age-group is so fun for me. The energy of these kids keep me on my toes all day and make me sleep well at night. Their sense of wonder and curiosity leaves me at awe and delighted to be part of seeing the world everyday with fresh, new eyes.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantitative Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific. And so, I worked for banks like ING Barings and Bank of America a number of years as well.
How did I end up as a preschool teacher? I was always involved with church activities such as the choir all throughout my childhood and teenage years. When lived in South Korea, I naturally gravitated to volunteering but since the closest church from where I lived did not have a choir, I ended up teaching in their Sunday school.
Teaching in Sunday School inspired me to take courses in Childhood Education. A thesis away from finishing my Masters in Childhood Education at the Miriam College Graduate School, I still see the possibility to finish it.
I used to teach grade 5 in Miriam and Rosehill – both Catholic schools in the Philippines. When I moved to the U.S. ten years ago, I opened a preschool called “Little Angels” and it ran for a few years before I decided to work full-time for Bank of America.
With different work experiences - a soprano for a music group, a teacher and a banker, I consider teaching to be most meaningful. I combine my musical abilities and love for learning in teaching the preschoolers the basics – alphabet, math, religion, science, computer skills, social studies, and some Spanish words and phrases.
Currently taking an Organizational Leadership course at Seattle University, I intend to serve my community the best way I can.
